Michelle Obama has been our amazing First Lady of The United States for 8 beautiful years. She is the most fashionable First Lady, we've seen since Jackie Kennedy and honestly I'm glad she focused on her wardrobe as well as fulfilling her role in the White House. It was never a problem for Jackie Kennedy to be well dressed, and she was often asked what she was wearing and it was always the topic of headlines. However Michelle Obama has been faced with the question "does the First Lady put too much emphasis on her wardrobe?" My answer is no, it is only a question because of race and not because she's a dingbat that does nothing but stand behind her husband and allow him to do all the talking.
She has been an incredible, well-dressed woman the 8 years they've been in office and I am very upset to see them go, but I'm sure I will see plenty more of her great style. Her style is classic, modern, and influential, showing young women of color especially, they don't have to show everything to be respected, get attention, or to be taken seriously. If you're comfortable and it's your thing, go for it, but if you're not that's fine as well. She brought diversity and class back to the black community where things were falling a bit. Now I see women gradually covering up and not being afraid to be different from their friend who has a different style.
Below we put together 50 of our favorite Michelle Obama style moments. These moments feature: Alice + Olivia, Azzedine Alaia, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo, Marchesa, Carolina Herrera, Kenzo, Jason Wu, Naeem Khan, Narcisco Rodriguez, and many more.
We will definitely miss your style and grace in the White House!
